from fordpartscatalog.com I grabbed this pic:

the sensor is part #12, and what it screws into is #11.... I assume #13 is probably a 2nd sensor for the computer (one for dash gauge, one for computer)... does that look right?

It's for a 1994 ford ranger xlt 3.0L - fordpartscatalog doesn't do mazda :(

Hmm I wonder if it is correct though , just looking at the diagram it’s hard to tell if it’s the same part, but since it’s from a 94 ranger and the 94 Mazda is pretty similar I would like to think it’s that , the only reason I might think it’s not correct is because there should be two holes next to each other, one as the sender and the other as a sensor, do you know what #11 is ? Maybe I can search that and see if it looks correct, thank you

Actually, do you know the part number of this ? I’ve called my local Mazda dealership and they’ve never heard of a lower intake manifold. For some reason. They told me it was just one piece. Is there a certain way to word it to find one to buy online? I’m not having any luck.

that year has dropped off the factory listings because of age.
it's unlikely to get a new one from a dealer.
I would try used from a salvage yard, or Ebay.
the first listing may be one, pic shows a whole engine.
Taurus and Aerostar used the same engine with minor variations.

helicoil !

ok, in seriousness would a helicoil be able to seal enough to keep it from leaking terribly with the pressure of the cooling system?

Either way, replace or re-thread it, you are pulling it so you don't put chunks of metal into the engine.... you have yourself one bad day there.
