Coolant Smoke From where

the caps rating should be printed or stamped on the top. its been a while since i paid my cap any attention...but i dont remember it being as high as 16PSI....12PSI sounds more famillier.

1.1 is the pressure of the cap in bar measurement. Its the equivalent of ~16 psi.

okay well thats good to know. In that case my radiator cap is probably shot. It was holding a steady pressure of 11 PSI. I will pick up a new one tomorrow and test the new one in the store. So I can see what the difference is. Now I just need to figure where this stupid truck is leaking from...

Alright well I replaced the rad cap this evening. We had rain in the forecast for the next few days so I will see what I can figure out. I will try calling my local NAPA to see if they carry a pressure tester.

Just crawled underneath the truck. Here is what I found. My front Driveshaft, cross member, and oil pan all look wet like they have something dripping on them. I am going to get into junk clothes and peak around closer to see what I can find. Just curious, but where can this be coming from? Back of the motor? That is where the smoke seemed to be coming from. On the drivers side.

your intake manifold gasket is a prime suspect...but could also be an external head gasket leak.

Well I did the intake manifold gasket a year or so ago when I had the bank 1/2 lean codes. I really really hope its not the same thing again. I don't really have a way to look at it closely without taking it apart correct?

hook up the pressure tester and get your inspection mirror and flashlight handy...
