so i have a 99 ranger thats a 2.5 that has 202k miles on it, and i spun a bearing, i have a couple questions for anybody who sees this, ive heard the 2.5 engine and the 3.0 share the same motor mounts and same mounting location to the frame, i know they share the same trans which is the 4r44e anybody who can just confirm what ive see and heard would be great, just any little things to help whould be great this truck is 2wd and willl stay that way, also the truck is a regular cab not an ext cab thanks

The basic transmissions are very similar, but you can't just bolt in a 3.0 where your 2.5 was. The 3.0 doesn't share a bellhousing bolt pattern with any other engine they put in a Ranger. You'd need to find a 3.0 trans, engine wiring harness, and PCM minimum.

Yes, the Rangers Lima 2.3l/2.5l have the same trans bolt pattern but the Ranger's 3.0l has a different and unique pattern.

There were/are some Ford cars that had 2.5l HSC option and 3.0l option and these did have the same trans bolt pattern, these were transverse mounted engine/transmissions.

Because the labor and cost for a non-stock swap is almost the same for any engine, you would be better off using a 4.0l OHV or a V8.

A used or rebuilt 2.5l would be an easier swap and it could be "upgraded" for more power at that time.
The 4cyl Lima engines have many upgrade options that are not expensive, including turbo charging.
