Coil or leaf spring for a SAS on a 99 2WD?

OK, i might make a deal to get a 4WD m5od tailhousing and mainshaft
So i wanna know, and be 100% sure its all i need to make my transmission 4wd.
or do i need more parts?
i know ill need the t case, but i wanna know if i need something else, besides those 2 parts right now.

Should be all, unless you need bearings replaced.

This was a very productive day.
I coulnd't check the Dana 30, because the guy had to go out, Maybe tomorrow ill go look at it, and ill try to talk him down on the price.
I did the contact with another guy that will buy my front suspension.
That means that the funds for the 4WD M5OD will be here as soon as I take the IFS off.
Also, axle fund udpate:
Axle cost: 315 usd.
Savings: 242 usd.

I think you need to budget more for zip-ties on this project. Zip-ties are the most useful things ever. More than duct tape or super glue.

Will a 91 2.3 4wd m5od bolt in on my 2.5?
seems like im gettin one tomorrow.
it has a manual t case too.

If anyone can confirm ill give rep. also, what t case could this be?

The 2.3 and 2.5 have the same bolt pattern so it should work. The t-case might be a 1350E, but is possible to be a 1350M.

I'd you do get the transmission, I suggest putting a new shifter bushing in it.

Exactly what Escort said.

Except for the tapatalk part. This was sent from my lazy ass on the couch on my laptop.

And all the clutch splining is the same, so no issues there.

The 2.3 and 2.5 are basically the same block.

Thanks guys
According to the tech library, it could be the 1354, since it came from 90-95, and this truck is a 91.
And its 100% positive its a manual one, he has the shifter and linkages.

What about the driveshafts?
What can be done there?

You will need a set of reg cab your bed 4x4 shafts. I don't know how the front of the Ranger shaft mates up to the D-30.

Driveshafts? Well the front if it is a 1354 you can use any front shaft from an explorer will work. If it is a 1350, then front driveshafts might be a little harder to get. If you do get one with the 1350 with the slip yoke front output, I have one from my old bronco2...

Thinking about it, I thinly it would be a 1354E.

Well seems like ill have to get custom made shafts then, if i cant get em around.
Ill ask him to get me the driveshafts he took off the truck, since he swapped the engine for a toyota one, thats why the trans is for sale. his 2.3 died and he went toyota 22R. they love to use toyota engines on everything in here.

my cousin has a 88 Ranger with a diesel yota engine, he will install a 4wd trans he just made by converting a 2wd, so it will have a low range for heavy loads.

If that's the case just have the rear shortened and put a flange on the end.

I might have one that will work.

I have a good 4x4 rear shaft. No idea what it's from though. If we can get the measurements you need I'll measure the one I have and we can do some math then.

Hehe, I'm tired, almost typed "we can do some meth then."

haha ok.
and the meth will be done when i decide to upgrade to an F350 with solid axles and 35" tires.
