Before I screw it up I thought I would ask. I have an MSD Blaster TFI coil and harness to install on my 2.9 . Is this a direct install? Harness plugs into the stock harness and then to the coil. Correct? Any wires I should not connect up or just plug and go? :icon_pepsi:

If its the one shaped like the stock one, then yes it plugs right in. If its round, then you'll have to find out which wire is pos and which is neg.

Its the one like the stock one definitely not round. The old one has a condenser on the side of it. Should I use it on the new one or forget about it?

I am confused on the harness. My TFI Blaster II went right into place of my old coil with nothing else required. No harness, used factory plug.

Now I am confused. I dont have a lot of experience on the 2.9 and I am shooting in the dark so to speak on some issues. I read in a post about things to do to help the 2.9 work a little better. It mentioned a 8227 blaster coil, someone chimed in to get a harness 8874. I got it ,new plugs and wires, switched to synthetic oil etc. I asked a question about the harness and a control box as to whether I needed either of them or not. I installed all the things I bought. I installed the coil hoooked the harness to it and fired it up . NOTHING. I put the original coil in removed the harness and it fired up and hasnt missed a beat. So, do I or do I not need the harness . Seems not but I dont know . Any suggestions helpful and necessary at this point . Thanks

Just compare the coils visually, they should be pretty much identical. All my MSD TFI Blaster II required was that I take out the old coil and put the new one in. I am using that same TFI coil w/ my V8 - which has a carb/duraspark dist, and it's driven by a GM HEI ignition module.

I looked at your harness on SummitRacing and see what the issue is - that is for if you're running a MSD 6-series box. Return it if possible if this is not your intention as it won't be necessary.

Those were my thoughts too. Thanks
