Trust the government. I went to a NRA certified training class when I was about 10, then again about 1 yr ago. Also I got my hunter safety card about a year ago i guess, and have been to countless gun safety classes, and have all the certificates to prove it. Well, I decided I wanted to get my CCW so I don't have to wait 3 days for a handgun and the added security of not having to have my gun unloaded plus 3 steps from firing to be legal. Well, when I went into the sheriffs office to get my prints done, I was treated as a criminal, and charged accordingly. Then After the $45 to get my prints it's $75 for the processing fee. So then I fill out the app and with the print card send it in. one and a half month later I get a letter saying my safety certificate isn't good enough. So I send 'em all in, a copy of all 75 of them. Heh, another one and a half month later I receive my CCW with a snide letter about all the certificates I send in.......:annoyed:

haha... you showed them :icon_twisted:

what state you in again? some states are dicks about it.

You can conceal carry in Illinois on your own property, no permit required(just a valid FOID card)

I'm in Florida. You can carry however on your, or a friends personal property, but not off of it. You can carry in a vehicle if it is minimum 3 steps to fire it. i.e. glove box door, holster clip, safety. But you can only conceal carry off of personal property with a CCW, but it has to be completely concealed, i.e. I can now go into walmart packing, but it has to be concealed. Cannot go to any sports event, or establishment selling alcohol (you can, but it's too iffy to try it). My point is, I am a law abiding citizen, had to go to the sheriffs office to get my finger prints. Off the bat I was treated as a criminal, they were extremely rude, and acted as if I was the criminal. The lady that took my prints though thanked me for doing this and stated she wished more people would carry. Also the fact of I have had plenty of firearms training, and they took a total of about 3 months to process my application. I wish I could have customer service this crappy and still retain my customers.... I could lose a customer over missing a grease fitting on an oil change, but not them nooo.........:annoyed:

Typical govt bs. Congrats on getting yours! :)

ANd you can guess the Best part!

Criminals Don't Need a Permit! Why? Because they are Criminals. By definition they don't follow the law. SO whos being punished for it? Them? hardly! You are!

I've had my ccw for about a year now, In Detroit they take their dear sweet time processing the applications.... Mine took 8 months to go through.

Illinois sucks and I feel nothing but sympathy for you.

But for all you people in Commiefornia I really feel for those people.
What REALLY sucks is your governor signing that new ammo law.

I have no idea what the law is in PA about concealed carry
ON MY OWN PROPERTY, I will say I'd put two into the 10-ring
of anyone of ANY occupation that had something to say about
it if they had the monumental gaul to say it to me ON MY OWN
PROPERTY...

As for the rest of the world...
I live in pennsylvania and most counties the most important thing
you need for a CCW beyond two reference letters (a signed form letter)
is exact change.

It's getting worse, and I fear our current government is encouraging the turn for the worse...

and I've heard horror stories about people trying to get their CCW or renew it...

I heard of one person who was in the Allegheny Co. Courthouse to get their license renewed, (In PA you have to get the license based on what county you live in), he said that while he was in there another guy came in and the lady working there got snippy with him because he goofed on the form an asked politely for another... when she got snippy with him, he made a smart remark back and walked out. The guy I talked to that was there said that the lady working there then said to her co-worker "well if he wants to get snippy with me I'll just throw his form out." WTF!!

I've also heard that some other counties are much better... even to the point of if you fill out the forms properly the first time and have a valid drivers license and are willing to wait 15 mins or so, they do the background check, print up your card and hand it over with a smile.

And on a side note... I just heard the figures on Austrailia, now that they've banned guns for a year...

It has now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by
new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by their
own Government, a program costing Australia taxpayers more than $500
million dollars. The first year results are now in:

List of 7 items:

Australia-wide, homicides are up 3.2 percent.

Australia-wide, assaults are up 8.6 percent..

Australia-wide, armed robberies are up 44 percent (yes, 44 percent)!
In the state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are now up 300
percent. Note that while the law-abiding citizens turned them in, the
criminals did not, and criminals still possess their guns!

While figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in
armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the
past 12 months, since criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is
unarmed.

There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the
ELDERLY. Australian politicians are at a loss to explain how public
safety has decreased, after such monumental effort, and expense was
expended in successfully ridding Australian society of guns. The
Australian experience and the other historical facts above prove it.

Politicians have the gaul to believe that they were elected to do what THEY want to do rather than what they are TOLD to do.

They hump the furnature (and my leg) shit anywhere they happen to be and eat EVERYTHING they can get at... kinda like an untrained dog, frankly If I had a dog
that wouldn't do what it was told to do and generally behaved like a politician.... well, let's suffice it to say I own both a shovel and a .45 and I know how to use them both...
thus ridding myself of the problem.

I do not know about you fellas, and gals, but this coming election, other than ron paul, I will vote against everyone in office. On another note, if you wanna see what you can do with your country and guns check out scandanavian gun laws (at least I think it's sacndanavia). You are basically issued a firearm when you turn 18, swear an oath to defend you country, and bang you are a gun owner. Now there are a few stipilations with it, but their gun crimes are among the lowest in the world........

Switzerland. Every home and adult has an assault rifle and knows how to use it.
