Thanks for the solid info....im now looking at a 2002 tranny from a 3.0 ....that should work, correct?Actually they are both 4 speeds, there is no 5th gear physically added in a 5R, OD is turned on in 1st gear to get a Faux 2nd gear, between the 4Rs 1st and 2nd wide ratios, and it IS technically a 5th "ratio" so qualifies as a "gear"
Very clever, these Americans
But nothing to do with your swap
No, you can't put a 1995 thru 2000 4R44E in a 2001 and up Ranger
In 2001 the automatics got an ISS sensor added which the 2001 and up computers needs to see, 2000 and earlier won't have it, so it wouldn't shift gears
Can't added one
Keep looking, try https://www.car-part.com/
Good site for local used parts, use your zipcode
Flex fuel or gas only doesn't matter for transmission swaps, just FYI
Thanks....I won't be the one doing it, but thanksYes, a 2002 5R44E from a 3.0l will be plug and play
Assuming both are for/from 2WD
4x4 trans are different
If you have never done an Auto trans install there is one VERY IMPORTANT thing you need to know
SEATING A TORQUE CONVERTER
Ford, Chevy, Dodge, any maker, its all the same
Failure to do this WILL break the transmission's Pump when you install it, and trans will never go into gear after that, full rebuild needed to repair
