byrons "ranger#1" 4x4 long travel build up

gotcha. ive never used my lincoln for anything thicker than 14-16 gauge steel.

my 220 can be used to weld thin stuff, like 20 gauge, but its hard to control the heat.

thickest ive welded is 1/2 rebar. im getting ready to make the m.mounts for my engine and ill be using 3/8 plate and breaking out the 220 for that. i want that sucker strong :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

on a 30 amp breaker a 3200 hd will do all of this safely....

i know guys say it wont but if you can easily blow through it you can safely weld it. i was told you cant use it on sch 40 too.:dunno: same thing with 120 dom....

only thing i wonder is why a d35? why not a d44? i cant see buying a donor d35 to do this with...i do a d44 though. is it the diff weight difference since the beef up is adding so much weight?

using the dana 44 is cool but imo its more work theres frame pivot points differences and also the diff wheel lug pattern
and yea the problem with safly welding it you dont get the "cool" weld bead pattern you can get with a bigger amps and simply cold lapping it

so what is your plan as far as dampning to go with these puppies eh?

Those beams look sick, however I do share some of the others concerns about your weld penetration. I had a lincoln 125 that would barely get hot enough for 10 ga. and I really had to push thema chine to do so. flux core, on the other hand, had no problem welding the thicker stuff.

you do seem to have enough reinforcement that if you do find out the welds aren't good enough you should notice it before you have catastphic failure.
my biggest worry would be the extended sections that you welded in near the pivot points. I would have done a reinforcement plate tomp and bottom to go across both welds to carry some of the bending stress right at the welds during full compression.

all that aside I am very excited to see the finished product

i use the millermatic 210 for the bigger stuff

OK THAT MAKES MORE SENSE!!!

when you showed the picture of your welding table, it shows your little 110 machine. i use the term little very loosely

so i assumed thats what you were using.

didnt know you had a 210 machine there champ:icon_thumby:

nice work though.

make sure to wear a mask when grinding rust and welding though.

ive been sick for 3 days cause of my stupidity to wear a mask.

DONT DO IT!!!!!

yea sometimes i just run a welding mask when grinding it just feels better and i feel like im not naked but its amazing the power of the 210 that thing is just bad ass :shok:

there coming there coming the 1 piece trans/ r/a mount is becoming a pain in the ass but its coming along well all the pieces for the r/a are cut out but with out the trans cross member made up i don't know how long to make the r/a

I getcha, keep us posted. I know theres some pics floatin around of one somebody just made. Maybe crawlin91?
