I'm going through the site updating information and I'm looking at these BW1350/BW1354 doubler builds wondering why nobody builds a BW1354/BW1354 doubler. I did some searching on only found one person online that's built one.

I know Behemoth makes a strongbox that uses the planetary from a BW1354 and attaches to the front of BW1354 replacing the adapter plate essentially putting two 1354's together. But I'm curious why people haven't done their own BW1354/BW1354.

Seems like it's easier to find a manual 1354 than a 1350.

I’d like to hear more on this… I know @holyford86 was messing around with a 1354 recently…

I’d like to do a doubler in the Choptop, but I’m going to have to figure out something better with my rear driveline to even think of adding any length. I’m pretty sure the current angles are less than ideal. Oh heck, who am I kidding, I’ve wanted to stretch the wheelbase for awhile, just wasn’t excited about the work without a shop and the fact that I’d have to do something about the gas tank, which would probably have to be a fuel cell or something custom.

Options… if I had a bender and a TIG like I’d like, I’d make a custom aluminum job. The new tank and pump could go in the 88 when I get back to finishing that project. Realistically, that project is likely at least a year out and my garage is likely that far as well. I could also see about modifying things and raising my current tank, my 2” body lift gives me room to go up a little. I’d probably have to do a little measuring to see if that would possibly be enough, maybe with some longer bump stops or not.

How much length will this add would be my question because that would determine how feasible making it work would be. Also, to anyone who has done it with the older rigs, what do you do about the speedometer cable?

Early on in my Ranger endeavors, I thought I would like to build a doubler. Making the main shaft seems to be the most daunting part for me and probably the weakest part of the finished doubler. If I had a lathe, I would probably try it. I have acquired a small collection of manual t-cases. But I think they are all 1350's, except for the 4406.

I would think the 1354 would be better because it has a 6 pinion planetary vs the 1350's 4 pinion. Yes, I know the early 1354 has a 4 pinion.

Behemoth sold a shaft for DIYers, but I read where someone had to add a 1.5" spacer to their 1350/1354 adapter plate because the shaft was too long.

I stuffed a 6 gear planetary in my 1350 when I built mine. No reason to waste a good 1354 manual on a doubler when 1350s are dime a dozen.

Also the 6 VS 4 gear strength difference is not really a big deal, the shaft will snap or the aluminum case will break long before a planetary failure.

That is the vibe I always got, especially back when people were swapping out the 1350 and thus had one laying around.

I'm down to only one spare manual case I think...They are getting harder and harder find, reasonably priced that it is.

I think I have 3 hidden away. More than enough parts to build a doubler, if I had the tooling and time.

Soon you will have four... you could build preassembled doubler kits for people to fund the V8 swap! :icon_idea:

Won't be a v8 swap if people on marketplace won't talk. Why do people put ads up if they don't want to sell?

And, no, I'm not asking "Is it still available?".
