Yeah a D28's only chance of survival comes by way of leaving the hubs in the "free" position lol.
or by removing the entire thing and hanging it above your mantle. although i'm sure dust settling on it would start snapping axleshafts eventually.

I have wheeled an '84 B2 on 36's, did not have any axle breakage

Mine did not live long enough to break the axle, had a "small" accident....

I've been running 35s on my 28 for a few months now with no complaints from it, even with 2 full loads of fire wood and fighting ruts to get out of the wood splitting area. But it is a matter of time before I swap to a d35 with 44 knuckles.
