Bronkzilla - '79 Bronco

i hate to be negative, but i think you should use something a little heavier than what your using, take your time and make it fit perfect, remove ALL the rust and paint any bare metal before you start putting more metal in, you can get shaped patch panels pretty cheap at body shops, if not pick up a peice of 20 or 22 gauge sheet metal and start with that, it will be worth it when your truck is still one peice 10 years from now, if your not going to weld it in, invest into a decent rivet gun and use rivets, they will finish it off alot better and they wont back out on a rough road, keep plugging away and learn as you go, with your determination and ability and a little help and advice you will have one nice truck at the end.

yea i thought i mentioned earlier though, these screws are only temporary, in a little while ill be riveting them in, this is all just test fitting and might not use this material in the end either

Update

thanks and i drove her over to teh garage tonight what a drive up the road, the dimmer switch on the floor got stuck so id go by cars with my lights stuck on high and theyd be flickin theyre lights like mad, and my windows were steaming up (bad heater core) so when other cars lights would shine on the window i couldnt see shit all, didnt no if i was in the ditch or sending the other cars in the ditch lol. but i got her in the garage and took the top off amd cleaned the back of her out and took up the rear carpet and rear inside panels and the bedside on the drivers side is completely rusted off from the floor, and the bedside was hanging about 2-3" lower, so i took the wheel off and jacked up the wheel well (ultra-heavy-duty-tractor-trailer-big-rig-scissor-style jack) so its level, now i gota weld up some brackets and hold her back together, i got pics but dont have the cord over here at my moms ill try to get them tomorrow

wow, really?? come to michigan....there are 4 on craigslist righ now in my area for under a grand.....i cant get away from these things.

F'n A Cotton! I just might...

I bought my 79 with a 400m, t3 (i think, hell if i know), 6" lift kit and new 33s for 400 bucks.

It was in crap condition but a good organ doner.

Think about it, for 30 some odd years of the bronco, only 2 years were blessed with giant cubes and solid axles.

My girlfriend just got a 94 Eddie with a 351w. That's the newest project. Her dad gave it to her. He was the original owner, and gave me window sticker from the stealership.

Oh yeah, boggin, don't **** up.

any ideas on how to fix the little problem that i have? thanks

well im not gonna make a flat bed out of a bronco lol, but i think im gonna weld up some brackets in a L shape and hold her back together on the bottom then put a big patch across the top of her

well how bad is it rotted, would it be easier time wise to put a new quarter and bed floor in depending on how rotted it is. the only thing that doesnt sound good about it is the long term of the repair. you could put brackets in but how long will that last?

well i got 2 years yet to work on her, and no way in hell i would be able to find another bronco that style, so i guess i gotta patch it up
heres a pic of what i got in mind
broncopatch.jpg

that part that drops down just where the bottom of the steel patch mounts is just the beam that goes up through for the body mounts, id weld the patch onto that and then up to the wheel well

that would work, id reinforce it on both sides tho... how rotted are the panels back there?

the panels on the other side? i havent looked yet but i think they are good they look like it from the top anyways
