brake light sensor adjustment

My bronco II break light sensor will move and adjust but it will not stay in the correct position meaning it will work once but if I go to break a second time the position moves and wont stay where I put it. Does any one else have this problem and how would I fix that? Sorry if this is an easy fix but I cant find anything on it
