This happend just about 4 weeks ago. I forgot I had the picture in my digital camera still. My wife and I looked at for about 30 min after I downloaded it onto our computer. Sad....

How about this 3500 series truck? Look what this oak tree did to it!!! Sad the passenger died. She was not wearing a seat belt and according to some of the witnesses she was hanging out the window having a good time before the crash. The impact was on the passenger side as you can see in the photo. The driver was able to walk away. He got thrown on the ground. Both of them were on something but the test results have not come back yet.

The driver was speeding near our place at around 10:45-11:00 pm and went around a corner on a narrow two lane road at about 70 mph and spun into the tree. The speed limit there is 30 mph. We heard the sirens and knew something had happened really close to our house. A cop friend of ours who lives by us came over to tell us what happend and we all went up to see it. We got there as the wrecker driver was pulling up. My cop friend got out his spot light and I took this photo and I felt a little sad at the time. I am glad I did not see it happen. We found out later that week the girl lived around the corner from us. We put flowers around the tree and hung a wreath for her on the tree branches. We had met her family before. They moved away and then came back three years later.

WOW. hate to hear of people getting hurt/dying. sad lesson to learn. glad they didnt take anyone else out with them though.

Holy crap. That is a 1 ton dually!

its crazy to see such a small tree bend heavy steel like that! just realized how small it looks!

If the driver was doing the speed limit, how fast was the tree going?

Thats what the cop asked the kid who hit a tree in my neighbors back yard years ago. He ripped his Volvo in half.

We have not heard anything else so far about the driver facing charges yet. He is 19 and has several speeding and reckless driving charges against him in the past in both his fathers truck that he totaled and his own car. His license was suspended once already. I am sure he is going to do jail time for this. The tree still looks great. It lost a few small patches of bark.

LOL.... I do like that. My favorite was when a drunk girl hit a small enclosed bus stop rest area near our shopping center. The girl was 16 years old and a real babe. I walked over to the accident site to see if I could help and waited until the cops came. She told the cop that she was doing the speed limit and only had two shots of Tequila.
The cop said 'How fast was the bus stop going'? She replied 'It was speeding beside me!!! Man...I could not hold that laugh back. I laughed so hard that snot came out my eyeballs!!!!

She was taken to get booked for DUI. 16??

It is way too bad for the girl.

If you could take the people out of the truck it would have been kind of neat to see the running engine come out the front of the truck...

Hmmm, I saw that once years ago at the Gator Nationals. I was about 50 feet away when a top fuel dragster lost control and hit the guard rail. The motor lifted out of the frame and it was still running when it hit the ground. Then there was a flash of fire. I had just given my video camera to my gf and she was heading over to get a shot of some clowns entertaining the kids near the staging area. Man...that was neat. The best thing was...nobody got hurt!!!

Gotta love how people/press/cops ALWAYS make it a point to say "They weren't wearin their seatbelt". Like it would of made a difference, NOT! If the public got the same type of info on the incidents that the seatbelt killed em or if they would of been wearin it they would of been killed. Happened just 2 weeks ago to a guy I work withs Step-Daughter, she turned to their Granddaughter who was in the back seat in a child seat, and vered off the road, hit 2 trees at 70mph, she wasn't wearin her seatbelt, got thrown out of the car, she had 2 broke legs, broken heal, & cracked ribs, but she's alive.........the car was a early 2000's Cavalier, the dash was pushed back to the front seat, if she'd of been wearin the seatbelt, her legs would of been crushed, she'd of been pinned, and probably bled to death. The Granddaughter also suffered a broken leg even in the car seat.

That's why it should be a CHOICE, not a LAW!!!

You are right....seat belts kill. Now I have heard it all.

wow that is crazy, anybody else notice the front passenger tire right next to the engine?

these accidents sucnk, a very close friend of me and my brothers passed away in an accident a little over a year ago and its still hard not to think about it.

as for the seatbelts, i never wear mine. i know of more people that been killed with seatbelts on than without them. for instance, my cousin got in an accident without his seatbelt on and got flew out the sunroof. if he was wearing his seat belt, he would of been killed by a big concrete block going up through the drivers seat where he would have been seated
