Anyone with a 2011 or 2012 Mustang?

I have no preference. 2 years ago i would have said manual but.........

and there are other vehicles I would rather have ..... like a 97 Supra or a WRX STI

There are a couple TSB's that pertain to early build 2011 Mustangs...one is for shifting concerns when cold out, the fluid was replaced with another type to fix this....the other is the clutch pedal staying on the floor during high RPM shifts....an updated clutch/brake pedal assembly was the fix.

Sasquatch, what about the hold up in production not too long ago? They stopped production to check a few things on the cars since a problem was supposedly spotted. And of course, the tranny was the suspect.

I will also add...... I have always wanted a mustang but I have not liked any body styles since 93 until the 2005 came out and I like the 2012 even better and a current V6 would be good enough performance wise...... but there are other costs associated like insurance I am nto sure I want to pay for. Right now for Full coverage on the 2 still on the road is only $157 a month.... you know, The Prius and the Blazer added $350 a month to my insurance.

Can't the transmission be replaced with a different older, more reliable model?

Don't know anything about that

Amen. 4th gen never tickled my fancy, especially with that 4.6. the looks of the 2013 really grabbed my attention when I was initially browsing for an F150 with the 3.5.

They are still a pretty spunky car.

I was almost rolling out of the bleachers in the summer of '11 watching a puny little 3.7 Mustang, automatic with 2.something gears THRASHING on two late model GTO's in the 1/8th mile.

Typical of an australian car bought and rebadged as an american sports car.

Still, the LS1/LS2 is nothing to laugh at and the Mustang was set up as the complete opposite from what most people would think of as a race car. It was bone stock, the guy had gotten it two weeks prior.

:icon_rofl: Being a guy who loves the corvette, I beg to differ. :icon_rofl:

They were the engine to have when I was in high school in the early '00's, unless it had a blower a 5.0/4.6 Mustang didn't have a chance on a LS1 Camaro. They don't put out bad numbers even for today either.

Now lowly N/A automatic and highway flier geared V6 Mustangs are kicking them around with authority.

That's because the LS1 was a dog. They also were riddled with problems, not just the LS1 in camaro's, gto's, and corvettes, but the LS family as a whole (3rd gen small blocks). Piston slap, cracked heads, serious oil consumption (over a quart in 500 miles).

350hp is a far cry from a dog IMO...

A few rants:

1.) The 6 speed in the Mustang is garbage and Ford keeps putting them in the Mustangs. They have a better transmission BUT REFUSE TO USE IT IN LESSER STANGS.

2.) I have pretty much hated ford since ONE FORD took hold. There hasn't been a Thunderbird in years, there isn't a 2 door entry level car anymore, they killed the Panthers for some FWD UNIBODY P.O.S. Taurus (Have to sell these junks somehow because the public sure isn't buying them), THEY KILLED OUR PRECIOUS RANGER AND DENY US THE NEW GLOBAL RANGER THINKING WE WILL ALL DEFAULT INTO F-150's, FIESTAS, OR TRANSIT CONNECTS! ONE FORD NEED TO DIE A.S.A.P.!!!!

3.) There is still not a world class RWD platform so Lincoln basically sucks. See #2... ONE FORD = FAIL.

4.) That picture above proves my point on HOW USELESS/WORTHLESS MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTIES ARE. UNLESS THE CAR WON'T START, A LIGHT IS ON, OR THERE IS A RECALL THEY DON'T WANT TO FIX A DAMN THING! Might as well wipe your A$$ with a factory warranty. I'd rather buy the car/truck after it expires (they are worth less) and go it alone.

They haven't made a t-bird I would consider buying since the 50's.

The only good thing was about the crown vic was when you saw one you knew right away it had about a 75% chance of being a cop. 20% of the others were old cop cars bought on the cheap and the rest that were probably purchased new as a private car. They sell A LOT more of their replacement to the general population than they did Crown Vics.

The global Ranger is nearly the same size as the US F-150. There wouldn't be enough of a difference between them to justify setting up a plant to make them. The Ranger's sales were a sad fraction of what they once were, even the class leader (Tacoma) is putting out pitiful sales compared to the Ranger 10 years ago when it was in its prime. I don't blame them a bit for holding off doing a new Ranger here out of fear of doing what Toyota did with the new Tundra... show up to the party too late to profit from it.

Lincoln has sucked since... well I don't know when they were ever great. :dntknw:

The only pictures posted are those of my brother's car and a pic of a gear that the person that posted it said was never meant to have those teeth. It is rather obvious by how smooth the surface is where they would have been.

The 2011 F-150's had a TSB with a different belt drive because the same belt drive that the Mustang's run caused the AC compressor to tick for some reason... which as near as we can tell is what is ticking in his. Both he and the field engineer from Ford expect a similar fix for the Mustang but it hasn't been released yet. It runs perfect otherwise though.

Ford did issue a TSB to this effect, his car is in hibernation so I can't say if it will fix anything though. His is early enough it gets a new timing cover out of the deal too.
