anyone??

i recently purchased a welder and i've been tossing around the idea of building my own diff cover.

i was thinking i'd get a local company to laser or cnc plasma cut the outer ring that will bolt to the axle and then cutting up 1/4" plate for the actual cover.

i have a rough idea of what i'd like it to look like, i'll put up a pic up when i find it

let's see some pics

yeah, i've sen the ruffstuff covers. they are cool.....but a little overkill for what i need.

i think i'm just gonna take some ideas from a bunch of covers and form them into one.

but you're right, it'd save me some time to just buy one.

If the Ruffstuff is overkill, maybe just cut the mounting area off of one diff cover, and then weld that cover to the other one.

not a bad idea, i have a stock metal cover and i could just weld some 1/4" plate to it

You cant go wrong with a little overkill and a Ruffstuff cover. Those things are literally indestructable! :icon_thumby:

Oh, it should also be noted that aftermarket diff covers usually have increased fluid capacity too. Something to thing about when designing your own if you go that route.

that's the other thing i'm after

If you do build your own there are a few things you have to bear in mind, the welds have to be fluid tight and the mounting face has to be flat. Not so simple as it sounds.
