So are like.. aftermarket wheels and stuff available online for your wheel swaps or do you just cannibalize different cars? That skyline is sweet

Both. I get the real rubber wheels, like on the Lotus and Mercedese, from Ali Express, but the Blue wheels on the Civic, actually came from the Skyline.

This ^^^^ is what the Skyline looked like originally.
And here is the Civic in it's original form

It can get expensive quick. @ $1.25 each, you think I'll just grab 1 or 2, then you find a car you like then you find the same car, but a different color, then another and so on . . .

Next thing you know, you've spent $20 on Hot Wheels and you only went to get milk.

If anybody here has hot wheels and are curious about them, not their value, but just info on when it was made and what year your particular cast came from, here's a link to where I go to look them up.

nice. i have a bunch of hotwheels that are still in the packages from the 90s and early 2k that i was buying in my vw/porsche times. since i was a karmann ghia guy, i was always on the lookout but would get any vws i found.

A lot of collectors go for one or two casts, like VW's or Camaros, or whatever and get all of those they can find, some go for "colors" like orange cars or Purple cars. Others just get the ones they think look cool ( that's me) and others simply take the "pokemon" approach and collect every one of them. There's no way wrong way to collect Hot Wheels.

FUN FACT : Hot Wheels is always plural. So one car is "a" Hot Wheels, and more than one car "are" Hot Wheels.

One of my wife's uncles was an avid Hot Wheels & die cast collector. At his funeral, they had all of his cars in totes for the kids to take home. I'm sure the really valuable ones were culled; maybe not. Either way, my son got a couple and put many miles on them.

We have a tote at home full of cars, many from my own childhood. They're beat up and not worth anything but it was fun playing with them with my kids and recognizing some of them. We also have a bunch of track, a car wash, and lots of other bits. Of course we always seem to need more of the little tongues that connect the track sections.

Dollar tree has track pieces, ramps, and loops - comes with the little connector pieces. I have those little pieces piling up as we speek.
Also, never say they're worth nothing, because of this statement - "it was fun playing with them with my kids and recognizing some of them. "
Also just because they're beat up, doesnt devalue them at all in most cases. Rare is Rare, in or out of the package, and almost any HotWheels car is worth at least $1.00.
I used to hit the Goodwills up and get a bag of 10-12 cars for around $5-8, and almost always get my money's worth. Besides, if they're too bad off, I will refurbish and/or customize it back to greatness.
