Another FW 78/79 dana 44 swap

Looks great! Same way i mounted mine and (knock on wood) they have been holding fine.

You may want to try to move all your wiring towards the firewall, then out to the fender, and down the inner fender. Turn your distribution box so it runs parallel with the inner fender. Doing this will keep everything away from the shocks, even with bouncing all around.

Thanks for the advice. Still need to add some gussets and another tube at make sure those hoops don't rip out of the frame.

The list is getting shorter! Have you started on your trac bar yet? I spent a decent amount of time on those mounts, making sure everything was the right length/angle/etc.

I have been waiting to get it sitting on the tires with the coilovers. I have the mounts and think they are going to work but we'll see.

What do you guys think about using the coilover mounting bolts to mount the limit straps? Just zip tie them in the middle or something. My coilovers are 29.5" extended and some 28" limit straps should be here Thursday.

Seen it done, no reason why it should work for ya.

Ahh, prefab brackets. Too easy. haha

Fixed.

The straps will be fine. I wouldn't zip tie em though. Either leave em loose or use some type of elastic material. I think I've seen someone use a bicycle inner tube before like a big rubber band? idk.

Thanks Bray! Dude who had'm on his fullsize had a little tag loop stitched into the middle and it was bungee'd to the frame.

Its funny how double negatives are appropriate sometimes. haha.

I just checked Redbird's site, and they don't have camping? WTF!

What do you guys plan to do? Just a day trip? I'd like to stay Fri night through Sunday. Hotel party! lol

Everybody camps in the parking lot. Hell they have night runs. I might camp Friday night.

Sounds good. I'll just show up with all my camping gear, then if they don't allow camping I'll have my credit card for the local Holiday Inn. haha

No worries registering my truck since its got plates right?

Greg, i just remembered something.... When keith welded in the trac bar mount (upper), he didn't brace it. I figured it would be ok sense it was mounted on the side of the engine crossmember. All these creepers that already did the SAS told me to brace it. I didn't listen (what the hell do they know right?)

Well, about a month ago my steering was acting funny, and the axle was off-center, so i had my ol lady turn the wheels while i looked at the front and you could literally watch the tracbar mount move.

cut a couple flate pieces out of 1/8" plate and welded it to the trac bar and the crossmember. No more movement. I should've listen to those who have been there before me (fail)

I did notice that in your build thread. It had lots of weld but nut much bracing.
