My credo
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are different.
So I got up later than I had hoped this morning, thinking, "All I have to do is" get my allergy shots, load the truck for the trip to Carlisle and get on the road. No problem. I still decided to cook a meaningful breakfast. That way I won't really need to eat again until this evening.

But then I realize I forgot to visit the ATM at work yesterday to get cash for the trip. Yeah 3 ATMs right by the cafeteria. I could have completed the task on company time. So, add that to today's list. Plus, I still need a couple things from the drug store. It still won't take long. I can zip around town pretty quick on the motorcycle.

As I'm cooking and pondering these things, I catch up on what my TRS buddies are doing. My ibservation is that we seem to have a bunch if people here who work well under pressure. Sometimes even better than normal. Several are wrapping up big projects at the last minute. Even me. I just did a front end alignment on my truck Saturday and did a few little "nice to have" projects. Rick is down there near Atlanta, building a trailer for the trip. Justin is troubleshooting problems from a head replacement and rebuilding his exhaust. Granted, that's fir next months trip. But for a young, working family man with a young child, this is getting close to the deadline. And I know there are others in the same situation.

I'm not picking on anyone about procrastinating or time management. I'm in a very fragile glass house on those subjects. I'm just amazed at how much we accomplish when the heat is on. I should still meet my self-impposed goal of departing around 12:00-12:30.

But I better not take any more time to post here.

I can work under pressure and have done it but do not prefer it. The leisurely pace I’m prepping for Carlisle right now is just fine. Wash the truck today. Pack clothes tomorrow and load up the truck for leaving Friday morning.

As far as whether I go straight to the campground or to the show depends on check in time for the camp site. I need to remember to check on that after I get home from work.

3 pm.

i do better if i let it go till the last minute. than i feel motivated to actually do it. otherwise, i can do it tomorrow

@ericbphoto when you got a minute.... how's the bike been treating you? Done anything to it yet?

Add me to the list in getting ready for Kentucky.

All new brakes wheel cylinders to drums... new shocks... 1 inch lift shackles... new 1750 lb leaf springs... lots of tinkering with my heavy duty rear bumper brackets... rear end lube change and a Yukon gear diff cover. Put 80 miles on it... gonna retorque.

Then turn it around and do the front starting tomorrow.

If you are talking about the u-bolts for the springs. It took me three times of checking torque after initial install before the nuts stopped turning.

Those are the ones. I didn't check them today. I ended up putting a floor in the shed at our rental house. Then did a bit of electrical.

How bad were your torsion bars rusted in?

This is where I ended up in the rear... the 32's look a bit less significant.

The bars weren't rusted in at all. They slid right out after I relieved the tension on them. The bolts for adjusting the keys were a little rough at first but freed up after the penetration oil had time to work and the bolts were moved enough.

I'm hoping I'm that lucky...

I've been soaking them in Kroil for days.

First time I met Jim ... I was at an event and still putting parts back on my truck from striping it to frame rails the week before....I limited myself to 10 hr work days roofing, so I could fix the frame.

Then broke a bunch of stuff....fixed it in some parking lots ...on the way home.

Ain't no way I could do that now:dunno:
