Aces Killshot Fusion EFI Swap

Anyone know what size the quick disconnects on the fuel pump are called? Pump assembly is for a '86 Ranger.

Bump

Trying to figure out how to mesh generic fuel line (Evil Energy) to my current fuel pump hanger assembly.

According to descriptions on RockAuto 5/16 & 3/8. As for what to call that quick connect?

Edit: Looks like it's called an SAE quick connect.

I usually go to O'Reilly's website for that stuff and they didn't show anything.

When combined with Gump's post I find these that looks like you are correct:

I think I have the main meat and taters of it rounded up now to string along orders for awhile.

EFI kit is here!

It has a progressive throttle. Kind of like my carb the fronts open first but they are more linked to the rears, having them both open opposite directions makes for a cool visual effect.

The wires that need attached to other things area all clearly marked

Has a baggie with the mounting gasket, I figured it would come with the air cleaner stud but I was mildly impressed it came with mounting studs. I don't think I need more of them but it was nice.

And another bag with a keychain, more stickers, small hardware, firewall grommet/mouse access hatch, and a USB adaptor.

The time is drawing near, I hope to get rolling on this process this weekend.

I think I have pretty much all the parts I will need, not sure how the fittings will play out but there is no way to know here for sure. And here I thought my tote was too big...

I was going to drive it into my garage and revamp the fuel system first. My door is against one wall so I only really have room on one side of the truck. And then we will have to use a feature I am getting rid of... and use the fuel in the bowls to back the truck out and turn it around and back it in so I have more room to get to the front of the truck for the rest of the conversion. To do aid in this I pulled the spare tire carrier off the back to make the truck almost a foot shorter. It is tempting to pull the grille guard/winch off but I am gong to try not to.

I was initially gong to retain the Duraspark igntion, I decided to just jump to using the built in coil driver that will use the OE style E coil. So I rooted around in the barn and found my bracket. I need to sandblast and paint that yet but we have time.

I have the Fusion running (good enuff, needs a pro tuner) on a 1990 Ranger with a roller 302. My advice is to read the instructions 10 times and don't try to out smart them. Most people run into problems with Aces stuff when they try to deviate from the manual.

When you go for first startup, select the "Stock" cam profile from the wizard. Even if you think you have a fancy cam, it'll run like crap on the "Mild" and "Race" profiles.

Unless you really know how to tune EFI, get a professional tune. Aces stuff is self-learning, not self-tuning.

Let me know if you have any questions about the install or initial tuning. I did get mine running and driving on the the first try, but like I said, it needs a professional to fine tune it.

My engine is basically stock, I have no delusions about how hot a stock Mustang HO cam is lol

I have heard the tuning thing but kind of got the vibe that the closer are to stock the better they learn. Only one way to find out...

My only real "deviation" planned so far is locking out a Duraspark distributor. I can't really find anyone doing that. I do see people using GM hall effect distributors on GM conversions so I am hoping it will work.

I think someone has locked out a Duraspark in one of the Facebook groups.

What does locking out the distributor do? And how to do it? I don't do Facebook so a copy paste to here would be best for me if someone finds the post.

It physically locks the advance mechanisms in the distributor so the ECU can control timing. I'll dig around and see if I can find anything on the Duraspark. If you have any kind of billet distributor, the instructions for an MSD distributor will cover most others.

I don't see why it wouldn't work but I just never came across anyone doing it it for Aces. Sniper and FiTech yes but not Aces. I've found a couple ways to do it.

I like being able to snag replacement cap and rotors just about anywhere...

I poked around on groups at first but there was so much negativity I bailed.

Yeah, FB is where to go for only bad news.

I think it should be the same for Aces, FiTech and Holley. From what I understand they all use the same basic principle, but maybe different wiring.

If using any mag pickup, wire to the VR connector on the Fusion. I think hall effect distributors go to the Tach_In wire.

@alwaysFlOoReD here is a video showing how to lock out a Duraspark:
