Recently bought a 94 ranger xl 4x4 v6 3.0 manual. When I accelerate it feels like it's just not getting all the power to the wheels..bogs going up hills, and acceleration isn't consistent. Rpms move smoothly, but acceleration slows and speeds up and so on, as if I was feathering the gas pedal...anyone have similar issue before or know what causes this?? Thanks.

A dirty MAF, a dirty/carboned throttle body, bad plugs or plug wires, dirty air filter, vacuumn leak(s).

Any CEL codes stored?

When was the last time the truck had a good "once over", meaning a tune-up/inspection?

Idle air control valve is another thing to check and clean if it's all crudded up it won't work right.

What's the idle like? What is it like when in neutral and you rev engine? Your symptoms can be blocked cat or other exhaust restriction. Vacuum test may show restricted exhaust when reving engine.

I doubt IAC.

Might also try fuel pressure test.

Start by doing the throttle cable mod to eliminate any slack that may be present. It's super cheap and easy, and will ensure that your throttle is actually opening properly.
