I figured I'd ask here before I start pulling the dash apart.

The fresh air / recycle switch on my dash is stuck in the middle. I can push it all the way right and left but it bounces right back. This has the side effect of the air not being as cold or blowing as hard as it used to. This is a killer in a southern summer.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

So I actually figured out the issue so I thought I would post it here do no one ends up like this guy: LINK.

I removed the dash trim and pulled the ac controls out a bit without disconnecting anything. I saw that the inside / outside air controls are operated by a push rod. Over years of use the rod had started to bend until it finally kinked a few days ago. I've attached a picture.

I bent the rod back as straight as possible and it works better than ever. I will definitely be more delicate with this control in the future. I also noticed that the ash tray light had come loose from its mount so I reattached that. I didn't even remember that I had an ash trash light so... bonus!

Hope this helps someone.

Welp, thought I had the same issue so started opening things up after sitting around for months not wanting to do it. But my cable / rod is fine. Turns out the space where the physical air door is located is just full of leaves and such for some reason and the door can't swing and I coulda gotten to it without removing anything except maybe the glove box for access. So this sorta helped...Helped me get off my butt and actually find the issue.

Lessons learned. 😐
