a/c and heat come out of the windshield defrost only. how can i remedy this? I assume its a vaccum system. kinked hose? leaking hose? gem box? help!!!!! It's hot out!!!!:bawling:

Yup, vacuum system. No vacuum to system. Check behind the glove box and out under the hood for damaged or unhooked lines.

In the mean time, I have found that shutting off the A/C and rolling down the window work wonders for cooling off the driver.

defrost only

Hey man check vac. Ball over r/s plastic fender well not sure if that's the technical name for said (ball) have to take the fender well out. Hope this helps bro not all of us want to roll with the windows down.:icon_rofl:

I believe I did indicate that the suggestion was a stop-gap until he found where the system is loosing vacuum. Windows down sure beats the crap outta roasting with them up and no A/C.

Oh, and the word you are looking for is "vacuum reservoir".

Windows down? Really? I never thought of that. Maybe i'll give that a try. :thefinger:

Missed sarcasm? Also, I beg to differ; ALL of us want to roll with the windows down.

Another spot to check is the lines at the switch inside, the blend door is not functioning. As QWERTY Adsmasmd said (<-wtf) it's your vacuum.

On my 89 Jimmy i couldnt find the vacuum leak so I forced the door open in the meantime. You can usually reach up in the dash and force the door open somehow, but it's ghetto ;)

windows down

dude just tryn to get some laughs. no harm meant. sorry if i plucked some nerves. not wanting to make enimys here. Might need yall one day sure wish someone would tell me about putting turbo on stock 2.5 might be stupid but how many good ideas come from stupid ones.

You'd be very surprised how many people overlook the painfully obvious.

Frankly, I'm not sure why having the A/C come out the dash registers is even necessary on a regular cab truck. Set it to max A/C on defrost and high fan. That should have the whole cab feeling like a walk-in freezer in a few minutes anyway.

Then again, I personally am of the opinion that air conditioning and automatic transmissions where the two most ridiculous things that could ever have been put on a motor vehicle. I know most people don't see it that way, but most people don't look at them the same way I do.

They are not needed for the vehicle to operate, they make the car cost more (even though an automatic is actually cheaper to produce), they always break, are super expensive to fix, and make everyone cry when they don't work perfectly.
