99 ranger face lift

You bet! I'd say that's your problem then.

5 was recommended to me as well by a few different places, but they also told me that more would only help freeway handling

Well... I haven't updated in awhile because I haven't done anything to the ranger at all, due to the other two buggies we are in the middle of building. I think I've drivin the ranger twice this month and one time it was only moved out of the driveway so I could clean it. I'll post some pictures soon of the buggie's so you can see why the ranger is on the back burner list.

P.S. Don't forget to vote for totm everyone!

Oh, I did adjust the axle though and it DOES drive way better. I'm still leery of the freeway. LOL

Ok...so the ranger sit because of this.

Most everything is all done so we decided it was time for tear down. We removed the engine and decided we wanted to see what full droop looked like.

And hear this one sits waiting to be welded fully and painted. Can't wait for this thing to be done. Its a beast!

The ranger is ready to go for the most part but still got big dreams for it. Can't wait to find the time.

The buggie looks awesome!!! Did some very nice work on it. What are the plans for it? (Competition or just a toy)

Comp. hopefully. My buddy is thinking about just playing with this one and building another. This is the first one we've made from nothing and there's already a lot of things we see we want to do different. That's how it works though right? I'll just be happy to see it on the trail.

On another note, I let my wife drive the ranger yesterday. She made it about a 1/4 mile down the road and turned around. When she walked in the door she through the keys at me and said she would never drive my truck again. She almost took out the neighbors fence and went off the other side of the road. So, I decided to get down to the bottom of my handling problem.

It turns out that the 4" ford bushings I used on the axle side of my radius arm got a little worked in. When I took the top link off of my passenger side radius arm the axle was actually rocking back on that side. So I re-installed it today and fixed the whole problem. I can now drive it on the freeway. No play in the wheel at all and the body roll is way less. My wife has no idea I fixed it... I think I'll keep it that way LOL!

Hey Kevery,

I went through your thread and was just curious what year axles you got. Also, did you shorten them?

Happy to hear you fixed the steering and control of that front end! Yea my wife drove my truck one time... says she never will again either because "it feels like I am driving a monster truck" lol

Both projects are looking good!

Thanks!

full width Dana 60.

Finally something worth sharing! She did well. I need a belly pan ASAP.

Some nice pics u got their, looked like a fun time!! How did the ranger do wheeling?

It did well. I need bumpers and a belly pan really bad. there was a lot I didn't do because of it.

Hopefully I get to go again soon. Its Sierra's or bust next year for sure.

Do you think you want the belly pan more than say an exo?

I was going to try to get my exo started possibly by winter break, but now you have me thinking that it might be better to do some skid protection first...
