Hey everyone,I've been lurking for a while and haven't found a definitive solution to my problem.I have an auto trans, and between 1st and second the trans shifts like im getting rear ended. It shifts that hard. It does this up shifting and down shifting. Only when warm.I had in the stealership fit 2 weeks and they replaced the valve body and solenoids. They didn't cure the problem and now I have less throttle response.Over the weekend I replaced the rear*vss/abs*sensor, but now my*abs*light is on and it didn't solve any problems.I don't know what else to try. Any help would be great, and I appreciate it.-VintageBandit

Bump. I'm having this same problem also. Is this normal on the 3.0?

Unfortunately yes, it is "normal". Typical ranger transmission. Ive changed the fluid, filters and valve body in mine. Still shifts hard, though mine has 162k on it. I say drive it till it finally gives out. Easy acceleration will be required to maximize the life of it.

However, since its shifting hard when "hot", slapping a larger/additional tranny cooler

IMO the auto is gear'd too tall for the 3.0 anyway.

Best of luck, but your just driving on borrowed time. So start saving for a new tranny.
