Hey guys, got a 98 ranger 2wd 5 speed.....I have done a 3" spindle lift on the front and 2" shackle w/ 2" block kit and its time for new shocks ( currently have lift shocks from fabtech) and was curious if I did a 2" coil in the front would that improve my ride quality with maybe a bigger shock?? How would the back be accomplished? Leaf spring?

Rear add-a-leafs work good for an easy 50 min. job with a buddy helping. I run a 3 inch spindle lift (Fabtech) and 2 inch taller coils springs from SpringTech. I run a 4.5 inch rear add-a-leaf (Procomp). The ride is great. The truck handles great on turns and it is a smooth ride at highway speeds. I went to 4 Wheel Parts and had them to the measurements for the right size shocks and they ordered them for men and when they came in they put them on for free. They get my business and my friends as well. I bought my '99 Ranger new July '99. I put the lift on in late 2000 and it still feels great and it still looks great. I am running Pro Comp 3000 series shocks and a front steering stabilizer shock.

When adding the 2" coil on the front did you also upgrade the upper control arm or those stock as well? Thanks for the info

No. I did not have to upgrade with the Fabtech kit. They sell taller coils to go along with their kit. It is the alignment that you need to do right away. Don't drive around until you get the alignment done!!!

Ya of course....what i have done so far is 3" spindle from ebay along with new camber bolts and 2" block set on the rear with a 2" shackle too. I ordered lift shocks from fabtech and the truck has been this way for three years. The suspension is sagging a lot now and it rides rough so I wanted to improve the ride quality. I know it needs new shocks but before i did that I thought maybe to improve the front was with lift coils. But from earlier I will definitely check out 4wheelparts for the correct shocks.....doing the 2" coils add to the 3" I already have making that 5"??

Yes. That is what mine is...a 5 inch lift. I don't like blocks over 1 1/2 inches tall. If you can, stay away from them.
