95 ranger 4X4 automatic 4.0 v6

Can anyone tell me what trans is in my 1995 ford ranger 4x4 automatic 4.0 v6? Will any other trans or vehicle that has the same that will work I’m looking for one mine has went out. Thanks

according to the guide, the only choice for that year that engine is 4R55E

course unless you are the original owner it could have been swapped by a PO.

and the whole family is notorious for problems - everything less than the last one (5R55E) having more problems than the final revision.
