'94 Green Goblin

Kevin, Thanks for the offer but I ran across a deal I couldn't pass up.
Picked up a 91 Explorer 4.0 with double digit miles on it...

Started tearing down the motor and ordering parts. Should be ready to go in the truck by the end of this week.

Well its been a while so i figured I'd update the thread...
I ordered a gasket set and painted the motor. Started pulling out the old motor and installing the new motor. Along the way I've upgraded a few things. My shifter fell apart when we removed it from the trans so I purchased a Hurst Short throw to replace it. Also The cat and muffler where crumbling from rust so I replaced everthing from the y-pipe back. New Magnaflow cat and Flowmaster series 50 exhaust.

Took the truck on a short errand last night and the battery died. I replaced it since the battery was not the correct one and barely had enough to turn it over. Today on the way to work the alternator was only putting out about 9 volts so I'm going to test one I have laying around and put that in if it is ok.
I put the truck on my bike charger when I got to work. Hopefully the battery has enough juice to get me to my other job so I can test the alternator and hopefully change it in the parking lot tonight.

Well in the process of trying to take the wire harness off the spare alternator I had I snapped the stud (Nut was rusted on to the crusty stud). I ended up getting a 130 amp alternator from a Econoline 150 van. I installed it in the parking lot at work in the rain. When it was in I started the truck up and the gauge was pointing at the L in Normal. I'd say its working. LOL

Im glad to see everything is working. Time to rip the front end apart to add some off road parts!

Well since it's my daily driver right now, I'm sticking with some new tires so at least I have the same size tires on the front and back. Looking to get 31x10.5 / 15 Firestone M/T, would love MTR's or BFG M/T's but I can get a real good deal on the FS's. to go get around on for now. I'm looking for a rusted out heap of a f-150 to get what I need to go the next stage.

Next stage will be 302, D44 TTB, 9". I've seen full size broncos blasting throught the trails around here and figured if they can I won't have a problem with 3.5" more width. At that point I'm thinking 33-35's for tires and some glass to make it purdy.

Done so far:
Hurst short throw shifter (Awesome)
Magnaflow Cat
Flowmaster Series 50 cat back exhaust
4.0 swap (original motor had 250,000 miles and coolant leak)
E-150 130 Amp Alternator (Bolts right up no changes necessary)
Fuel Pump (needs to be exchanged sending unit died)

Things to do:
Carrier bearing (already purchased)
Replace fuel pump again
Wire up Gauges on a-pillar
Wire up CB and install
New Tires

Well finally got a chance to work on the truck this weekend.

My brother in law has the same exact truck but in red and he just upgraded his lights to HID so I inherited his old headlights and corner lights. I installed them on Saturday. While I had the grill off I plastidipped it and the trim around the corner lights. Also installed my CB and antenna.

what brand of & model is the CB radio? Does it effect the shifter being located there? I was planning to install a CB between Heater controls & glove box facing upward attached to the dash.

Is there anything directly behind that area if I decide to cut a opening to have Cb inserted like a regular radio would be.

It doesn't affect the shifter at all. I have a good half inch between them when in first or third. (Keep in mind I have a Hurst Short Throw shifter)

As far as mounting it where you wanted, I'm not sure but I think the blower and heater system is behind there. I actually pulled my ashtray out because I was going to put a smaller radio shack cb in there which fits perfect in the slot using the rails for the ashtray but I wanted to go with the better cb.

My CB is a Uniden I'm not sure of the model but I think it's a Pro 68XL??

On a side note... I could have fit the uniden in where the Ashtray was with a little dremel work but I was lazy... LOL
