94 b4000 axle swap/offroad build

thank's , I just have to assume it track's pretty straight. It feel's straight and No One has said anything except that it look's like a sweet/plush ride

nice work. but on jeeps didnt they have some kinda vaccum 4x4 shit? how do yours lock in?

His doesnt have the CAD (central axle disconnect) system on it. If you do get an axle with the CAD set-up then you just get a non CAD axle, put it in the place of the CAD axle and make a cover plate for where the CAD stsem went.

The D30 is a live at all times axle, meaning there is no need to lock it in, just engage the transfer case into 4wd.

Warn sells a kit that allows you to manually lock the axles from the wheels.

yeah, hows it going. Have any issues with anything yet?

the only major issue i had with the swap was gettin the caster angle in check. i ultimately decided to shorten the front springs after having no other option aside from shortening my upper links. it now rides 100% level and drives down the road much better.
other than that everything is working great i am debating about ordering a set of jeep coils to see how it they work.
the only thing that haslet go was my rear axle so i swaped in an explorer 8.8. i also swaped in a manual t-case, after the t-case spent 5 hours under water it didnt want to shift anymore, no when i want it to shift i make it shift. next weekend are the local mud drag's so i may have to post some pics of that if i get any good one's , we'll see.

as of now plans are to finish up my rear bumper so i can get my spare outtat the bed and i need to changet my axle joints.

Sounds like your having an awesome time with your truck , cant wait to get my SAS done. Going to the JY tomorrow to get a set of 63 inch chevy leaves and anything else I can find. Maybe one day I'll do the 8.8 swap. Did you get one with the disk brakes or drum?

yeah its been a wild ride to say the least. the explorer 8.8 has drum brakes.
i will try and post some more rescent pics in the next couple of days. hopefully work will pick back up so i can get the bike and the truck back in good working order

Sorry to question you to death but what size shocks did you end up using i.e. lift height, brand, etc....... I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a good set, non have good descriptions about them.

Just trying to get this right the first time, my truck cant be out of service to long.

i am not sure of the moadel of the shock, but they are rancho shocks.
however i can tell you how i found what to run...

with the springs off the truck and the axle at full droop. i jacked up one side of the axle and measured, then switched side's (with the tire on)
i then installed the coils and flexed my truck out as far as i would want it to go and measured the length(on each side).

with those measurements i went to summitt and used there filter options to locate the exact shock and mounting i needed. the filters are kinda finicky due to the fact that the filter you may need wont allways show up until you select a different option.

I was able to find a shock that is something like 26'' extended 19'' collapsed
( THESE MEASUREMETNS ARE OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD NOT EXACT )with the stud on top and eyelet on bottom i then ordered the rough county bar pin eliminator. and bolted the whole set up in

:icon_thumby:Yes I agree. Summit is the best.

That helps me out alot.

Now thats flex!!!!

i have to report that over the past weekend the truck far surpassed my expectation's
while attending the local mud drags. the truck performed great.
i won 5 of 6 races. all the trucks were fullsize trucks with much larger tire's and horsepower. ranging everywhere from ford with 351 and pizza cutters to a chev with a big block and 44's. the truck i lost against was my buddy runnin a mild 350 on 37'' oz's
once my brother get's around to up loading the video. i will post a link.

here are some more up to date pics. (Notice the new wheels on the driverside!!! once i get the goodyears swaped on i will be all set)

Its sare yo say the SAS is the best thing to happen to your truck. Your D30 is holding up pretty good for the abuse your putting it through, Id hold off the D44 swap until you start breaking parts on your D30.
