94 b4000 axle swap/offroad build

One thing I forgot to ask was what type of vehicle shocks did you use (Jeep, Ranger, etc) and what model of shocks for the vehicle too?

Cant wait for more pictures.

The steering work's fine but Nothing to brag about. There is minimal bump steer but i dont feel unsafe driving it. If you use a axle trac bar mount it would make everything parallel and eliminate bump steer. When i hit large bumps it does NOT change the direction of the truck at all, you can just feel it thru the steering very little.

The shocks i have are for a long list of vehicle's. I can not recall the extended and collapsed length but they are skyjacker 8000

The vehicles they fit are something like:
Dodge 2500 lowered 3''
Avalanche lifted 6''
of factory Superduty
all i belive all are 00' or newer

I used summit and there confusing filtering method to find them.
They have the Larde stud style upper mounting which worked fine. and an eyelet on the bottom.
I used ruff country's "bar pin eliminator" for the lower axle mount and everything work's great. The tire stuff's farther than needed and the shock limit's the droop a little lower than i would like but thats what i used the spring retainer's for. F or the retainer's i used stainless steel "U" bolts from the local hardware store, 3 are the same size and fit snuggly around the spring, But the lower passanger side is rather large due to limited access to the underside of the spring.

How much did your steering cost you?

I think the tubing was between 75 and 100 the rode ends were around 125

as far as the taps that i used i dont remember exactly but one was like 15 and the other was around 60 bucks.

you can buy premade kits but now that i have the tap's if needed i can do it all again

and i'm allready planin something for possiably next winter using a full with 44 and a 9'' that i just picked up but i plan on keepin the jeep arm's we'll see what happen's. But before that i have to install a dishwasher at the BARE minimum

i also have to finish the XR project and decide what, if anything I am gonna do with the mustang im pickin up tomorrow

you can give me the mustang.

Thanks for the info in the shock info, ill look up that "bar pin eliminator", that might open up the variety of shocks I may be able to use.

I was wondering how you mounted your track bar to the axle? Looking back through your posts it doesn't show very well. Could you post a picture of how it looks??
Thanks

You could do something like this. I got these for free from a friend but he got them from RuffStuff I think

i mounted my trac bar using the factory jeep mount used for the steering stabilizer. it worked out well for the amount of lift i have and the factory pitman arm. I will try and snag a few pic's for you tomorrow. i highly reccommend drilling the bolts for the steering and using castle nut's if you go this way. i though i would get away with just using lock washers and ended up driving about 2 miles with zip tie's holding my steerin onto the bolt.

I also got compliments on my " SWEET " Toyota toady .
talk about ready to smack someone.Aparently the "bumpers" are what threw him off.

what escourt is using is very similar to the bar pin eliminator's but the actual eliminator's are bolt on and for 20 buck's what the hay

Thanks for the pictures so I know what to look for, you can tell Im a total noob at this stuff, but now I know what to look for.

YES castle nuts arew a MUST, at least in my book they are.

she flexes more than i will ever use runnin it down the trail's

but goe's down the road like a hotdog down a hallway next mission SWAY BARS

Holly flex batman!!!!!!!

Now for some detailed shots. That is a very nice set-up.

Awesome.
What did you use for front brake hoses?

tell me what detail shots you would like and i'll post em up

for the brake line's i ran hard line back to the link bracket and bent a 180.and connected that to a tee. then ran rubber line's off the rear of a 92? or so cavalier using bubble flare's then continued down the arm's with hard line and connected to factory cherokee rubber line's. eliminated the need for extended brake line's and feel they arent in harm's way as much now. the line's are hose clamped to the arm's with hose clamps and wraped in heat shrink. these pic's are preheatshrink for the correction nazi's
I did need to make two brackets to hold the rubber line's. they are just pieces of light guage angle iron with an 11/16? hole drilled in it.
