I'm helping a buddy out with his truck, he has been dealing with a random no start/die while driving issue for a month or two, well, the shop he took it to said the crank position sensor was bad, so we changed it, the same issue persisted. I was looking at the power box under the hood and noticed that the main wire going to the box had no insulation left and is dark, I wiggled the wire and the power cut out killing the truck, I can't seem to find the needed wire to replace it, the part number I could pull off the rubber end was M-14305, and it brings up an alternator harness, any ideas on finding a replacement?

Sounds like maybe you are describing the fusible link...

If so... you can buy fusible links or they do sell fusible wire and splice it in.
