'90 ranger no balls

The coil is a brand-new MSD the battery is fairly old the alternator is brand-new the coolant temperature sensor has been replaced I do not believe it has a cold start injector

Have you cleaned the spark plugs, and then checked then again after a few hours of running? If they turn black again, then your problem remains; if they stay clean then you need to look elsewhere.

I will do that tomorrow

I was gonna say check that coil and make sure its not weak. If nothing else you could step up your plugs a heat range to burn off some more of the fuel mixture. Start your ranger and then unplug the MAF and see if your CEL comes on, right there we'll know that your computer is gettin something from your MAF. Also are all your plugs blackened or is it just a few? You running stock plug gaps ect..?

Sorry dude but that ain't what hotter/colder plugs actually do. A hotter plug gets HOTTER at normal rpm. A colder plug stays colder and gets to normal temperature at advanced rpm.

These temperature changes allow running engines at lower and higher rpm than intended by the factory.

BY FAR the best plug for ANY engine is the one that comes from the factory. Unless the engine is being used for purposes unintended by the factory.

FORD has spent perhaps millions of dollars testing to see which sparkplug will behave properly in their vehicles. ANY change in plugs MAY cause havoc.

Who knows their engines better, FORD or some foreign plug company?

Disregard all plug advertising and go for the stock plug, ALWAYS!

Big Jim

I have the motorcraft plugs in it, of course. Haven't gotten much more out of it, it doesn't have a maf, it had a map, and it won't run without the map

I haven't given up on it yet, gonna replace the computer again and see

Tests don't act like it id
