I'd like to know if this swap is possible?
I'm being given a motor and its out of a 2001 Mazda B3000 and my truck is a 1989 Ford ranger 4x4.
Please let me know if you have seen this done before or even if this could be possible.

as long as your 89 was also a 3.0 it should work, not sure if theres any diffrent sensors/electrical between a 89 & a 01 but the transmission bell housing bolt pattern for a 3.0 is specific to that engine alone.

No 3.0 or 4.0 in 89.

Either you have a 2.3 or a 2.9. Neither will bolt up, the wireing will be a nightmare and if you have a 2.9, youll actually be loseing a bit of giddyup.

You need the entire truck for the swap... And as rusty said, itll be a major project. You'll need the transmission, entire wiring harness, ECM, you'll need to fab some stuff, etc etc. Not a rational swap.
