88 gone wild

Did you ever figure out what your engine codes were saying? I saw your video on that way back and never checked to see if you got a responce on it. 2.9 engine or not, its still a ranger and it has my respect.

no i dont know how to diagnose it im no mechanic. it sucks working on your dd

Your truck almost looks like mine. Wanna trade?

I cant believe no help from anybody. If I have some spare time I'll look up what the codes are or something. Thats the one bad thing about fuel injection, its all controled by electronics.

Totaly off subject.........get any snow yet??? I want snow so bad, even though my truck isnt street legal I want it for hunt to see where the damn deer are running.

Well the foot we got last week u can have. Dam slippery.but other than that we got white a few weeks ago...

well i tried solving it on here and just got everyone pissed off cause i was poor and they mis-interpretted it as laziness. and i dont have a shop currently and its my DD until i buy a chevy in march, unless i get it all back to normal. then i might go ford. we'll see
also, i know what the codes are but i have no money to have it properly diagnosed and fix the problems. one being the f-in diff. frick. and now my temp gauge isn't working. efffff!!!!!!

Which temp guage isnt working, the one on your dash or the one the computer reads???? If its the one on your dash then go with a manual temp. guage, they are much more reliable. If its the one for the computer then that has to be replaced ASAP or your truck will not run right.

As for new truck, go with Ford or Chevy.

I just went to my build thread since it said that you were last to respond to it but it doesnt show your responce. You might have to re-type what you said and re-post it.

suuuurre i did it via blackberry so dunno why it didn't work. anywho it was the in dash one and it just started workin again so wierd. and its starting consistantly so uh it hopefully should last a month... oi
btw when i buy a diesel chances are it will have horns on the front if ya know what i mean

Dodge diesels are okay to get but gas one are junk IMO. I would get a Ford or Chevy diesel before a Dodge though.

As for the dash one I would track down the wires and see if any of them are corroded, frayed, etc.... might even be the dash cluster. Each one of the guages can be replaced, did it with the gas gauge in my dads ranger.

its my daily driver, its minus 20, and i have to work outside.
yea... i think ill live...
haha and ford and chev diesels cant touch the cummins anyone who knows anything about diesels would know that.
both the v8 diesels get considerably worse economy and power is similair across the board, with chev topping the group...

Its not the cummins engine I hate, its that Dodge cant build a tranny. The gas engine ones blow up around 70,000 miles. The diesel ones are more forgiving. One guy I know has a diesel mega cab and while towing his suzuki samari, the main shaft snapped on his truck, it only has 35,000 miles on it luckly it was still under warrenty.

If your worried about fuel economy diesels arent the way to go unless they will be driven on the highway, thats where they get there best milage. One thing I dont like about the duramax is the aluminum heads it has, heard to many stories of them warpping.

Agreed, maybe mate the cummins to a good tranny and drop it in the ranger :icon_twisted:

haha hells ya. the 6 speed is good. i think the life of the trannys is all in the driving habits.
also, about those aluminum heads. can i say 6.0? they are worse than 2.9s for head gaskets. oi.
and a chipped cummins has nooo problemo getting 25 city when drivin right.
ford and chev arent even 20 city. some guy in the states built a 1200 horse cummins 5 speed 2wd that got 60 mpg
suck that. haha i love cummins's

The guy I know was getting 35 highway mpg with his mega cab plus it was chipped, bigger tires, etc...... Who needs 1200 hourse for in town driving, who needs a 2wd, for that price I would just get 4wd and be done with it. Forgot to say the manual trannies are fine but the autos in dodges are junk. How much was sank into building a 1200 horse cummins. I loves cummins to, sad to see the factory that was in my state closed down due to the american economy taking a plung. But i do live 5 minutes from a CAT (catipilar) plant, love it when they fire up an engine, huge clouds of black smoke. If I do have to do another engine swap, a diesel is going in next, no if, ands, or buts about it.
