Hey there I have an 85 BII with the auto trans and currently not moving due to a broken driveshaft, I have gone to every wrecking yard in town 5 total and every single ranger and bronco I find is missing the driveshaft, is this a common failure ? the drive shaft i have is the one with the two rear u joints considered the double cardan joint offered from 83-85, is there any options for me other than dishing out 275 for a new one ? any swap kits to something stronger ?

When you say broken, do you mean the joints or the shaft itself is twisted/broken? Does it look as if the u-joints can be replaced to fix it?

Shafts can generally be repaired for less than $275. Also, a shortened Explorer drive shaft (front or rear as I understand it) will make an acceptable replacement.

Also, I have heard, but not tested (although I intend to) that the front shaft from a 2005 to 2009 F-150 will work.
