Hi all! Trying to solve a persistent rain leak issue on my 84 Ranger--without fail, every time it rains, a little bit of water gets into the floor pan on the driver's side. Pulled off the door panel and tested with a hose, and it looked like the issue was old window seals. Replaced the main square window seals pretty easily, but there's still water getting in around the vent window. It appears to be at the interior corner, closest to the main window--a little water gets under the vent window itself, then into the rubber channel that holds the window. The water then runs down the inside of the door and drips out onto the back of the door panel and down into the cab. There are two little manufactured holes in that rubber channel that appear to let the water down into the door? But those seem intentionally added there? Not sure why.

I've tried a bunch of various applications of silicon in the points I thought were the exact issue but to no avail, so at this point I'm thinking to just replace the whole window seal. Unfortunately, can't for the life of me find that seal anywhere online. Anyone know the part number on that seal, or where to get one? Thanks!

(Any general waterproofing advice also much appreciated--got new carpet and don't want it to get wrecked with water damage)

Carpet won't get wrecked but the floorboards will.

I have had a couple of these old ones, a 1984 I have now and a 1986. I have had leaks several places that make the floor wet, but never around the vent windows. That seems like a unusual place. Are you squirting the hose directly onto the vent window? What happens when you hold the hose up high and simulate rain falling down from above?

I had a hole or seam leaking on the firewall that making the driver's side wet on my 84.

They do expect water to get inside the door, the reason for the openings in the bottom of the door. Curious thing they did and still to this day the factory does it, they did not paint the inside of the doors with anything.

Yep, tested with the hose above and directly on the vent window. The water comes out right from the vent window seal. I actually did have another leak on the top right corner of the windshield but I fixed that. I think, tentatively, the water is getting in between the glass of the vent window and the metal/plastic that attached directly to the glass? Not entirely sure how to resolve that. Been at this problem a good while narrowing down leaks and this is the last one I’m really struggling with. Here’s a picture of water coming through the vent part specifically, had a video but can’t seem to post it
