iv been thinking about removeing the guage cluster from my ranger and installing aftermarket guages into my dash on a sheet of metal anybody have any pointers or cons to doing so
 
what gauges are you going to run? are you good with sheet metal? are you doing a full dash or just the insert where the original cluster went?
 
This what I have done with my dash. A set of Auto Meter gauges fitted in expanded metal with a white plastic backing.

I like it. Only thing I would recommend is a vacuum gauge and a blue light for the highbeams
 
Also get some vacuum tubing and slice it down the middle for a edge guard instead of the wire loom.
