Hello, Do any of you know if a 3.0 engine and transmission from a 2001 Ranger will mount into a 1983 Ranger?

Welcome to TRS :)

No, not an easy swap
Would be same as swapping in a V8 as far as labor
Remove 4cyl engine cross brace
Install new motor mounts for "V" engine
Move transmission mount for transmission that matches engine used
Remove old engine wiring harness
Install OBD2 engine wiring harness and computer that matches engine
New drive shaft, or shafts for 4WD
Replace exhaust system
Install higher pressure fuel pump, inline, 1998 and up uses 65psi, may need a "lift pump" in the gas tank, or use a custom in-tank high pressure pump

Bits and pieces wiring for power and grounds for new system

Swapping to a different size/model engine is never easy

A carbureted engine would be a less intensive swap, fuel injection(EFI) requires the computer, and 1994 and earlier EFI computers required less wiring, 60 wire, compared to 104 wire used in 1995 and up Rangers, and most other vehicles

Fuel system will be an issue also. Going from a carbureted system with a return line to returnless EFI.
