Hello,

I am asking this question because i have found cheap b2 being parted. I own an 86, iam wondering if the dash and windshield will fit. Aswell as the throttle and choke levers will be compatible with the current carburetor. Iam new to b2 2.8 so please give some advice.

Body stuff is the same. The motor stuff is also, if it has the same motor.

86 is a 2.9.....nothin will work...well trans will bolt up between the two...and no such thing as an 83 bronco 2....started making those in 84

i got confused w/ the 83 b2 thing... but.. yeah. started in 84.

Well, the windshield will fit.

i thought that the 2.9 was fuel injected, dont the 85 2.8 have a carburetor? why would it change a .1 the following year?
or have a been misinformed by the previous owner and insurance papers declaring it to be an 86 when it is an 85?

There are actually more differences between the 2.8 and 2.9 than just the .1 of a liter. As you stated the 2.8 had a carb and the 2.9 is fuel injected, so obviously the intakes are different. But they also changed up the port arrangement in the heads. Also the 2.8 has a gear driven cam and the 2.9 has a chain driven cam. The difference of the .1 was caused by the difference in stroke and bore. (2.8 Stroke: 2.7" Bore: 3.66") (2.9 Stroke: 2.8" Bore: 3.7")

Iam not asking the difference of the fuel injected to carbureted but iam wondering why i was told it was an '86 2.8 carb. Id like to know if ford manufactured an '86 2.8 carb or if the insurance papers misinformed me with the wrong year.

well my truck on the door panel says its a 86 but the insurance says its an 87, due to it being produced late in the year they just classify them sometimes this way, check the door panel to see if it says 85 or 86?

its deffinetly not an 86 if its 2.8, its either 84-85

I may be wrong, but I thought I heard that the degree of the head banks are different between the 2.8 & 2.9 engines as well as the Chevy 2.8 & 4.3
