So in my '84 4.0l bronco II, I have the stock 7.5 rear end. Right now its a one wheel wonder, I know the dana 28 up front will explode if I weld it but will the 7.5 handle moderate abuse when it is welded.

I drive it mainly for hunting fishing and if Im just putting around exploring, my dd is my subaru and for heavy off roading I use my scout or my bronco fullsize.

I do tow occasionally, with the heaviest planned load being my 1973 15ft fiberglass boat.

I also have experience driving a locked vehicle. My bronco fullsize is welded now only because I grenaded the mini spool.

If less than 33" tires I think you'll be OK welding a 7.5". The weak point on those tends to be the shafts (they're much stronger than the shafts on a Jeep rear Dana35, but a little short of the strength of Dana44 shafts, if that gives you any reference).

Ok, that helps a lot. I forgot to mention that I want to run 31s but for now its 235/75 r15. I just need to find out how to remove the body lift and still fit 31s

Assuming your springs are in good shape you should be able to fit 31s by trimming the front fenders.

My red truck is at stock 4x4 height with 31s and trimmed fenders.

The 7.5 is stronger welded. The spiders are the weak part, then the pinon, then shafts.

i am with him...

yup....the only way to make a 7.5 live a little bit is to weld it or spool.

but it will beat the hell out of your springs and shackles etc....
