4X4 Ranger Edge Standard cab 4.0??

Oh no problem man. I just wanted to show you there WAS one out there

Good luck man

-Jeff

Yeah, I've found a couple in the past few weeks. One had a salvage title and water damage, and the other got sold out from under me. Both were 4.0 4x4, manual trans, standard cab and bed, Edge models. Man o man are they rare though!!

I'd love to find another one for sale by a private seller instead of a carlot. They mark them up SO much! Thanks again man! :icon_thumby:

Still looking.....

Yeah, I'd found that one but I've been putting off contacting them in hopes of finding a manual trans model. It is rubber floored though. Hell, maybe I'll get ahold of them soon, idk?

Thanks mang! :icon_thumby:

Hey I was looking on a site for an auto mart around Pittsburgh, I know you're in Illinois, but I found a standard cab Edge with a 4.0.

http://usautomart.com/carsforsale.aspx

It appears that they may have been wrong in their description after all. It looks like they've edited the description and changed it to V6 now. It must have the 3.0 after all. Who knows?

The salesman contacted me after I sent them an inquiry asking them why their prices were so inflated.

Here's the salesmans funny reply: "I C that you are interested in a 04 Ranger that i have here in stock. But you are concerned with the fact it is priced higher then what KBB says it is worth, well i can tell you the reason for that is because as a dealer we don't price are vehicles according to KBB we price them according to current market value! Kelley Blue Book is designed to be a guide for the Consumer and sometimes our vehicles are over and sometimes they are priced thousands under what KBB suggests. Anyway with that said we really don't want to loose any business over money! The important thing is that i have a very nice truck here that you are interested in! What would be a price that you would be willing to pay? And if i can make it happen for you i will!"

I'll keep on looking I guess.. :icon_rofl:

I don't understand? Both the 4.0 and 3.0 are V6's...:icon_confused:

What I was trying to say was, why would they edit their description from stating 4.0, to just stating V6? Unless they had it wrong in the first place..

Fine, so make them a offer. That's the current market value here today, right now. If it's still on the lot tomorrow, then their "current market value" is too high then, ain't it? :D

Anyway with that said we really don't want to loose any business over money!

The offer I'd make them would just be turned down. Their price is so over-inflated that they'd just laugh at my offer. With over 50,000 miles and anywhere else in the country that truck would sell for around 10,000-11,000. Private sellers would be asking around 9000. Give or take a little...

No way in hell is that truck worth anything close to $14,995!!

For now I'll keep looking for something from a private seller, or something priced reasonably.

It won't hurt you a bit to throw an offer out, just to see if they counter something reasonable.

I replied to his email, and basically told them good luck with their sale and that they pretty much were asking highway robbery prices. He's just another full of sh*t salesman that's not gonna get the price down to anything that I'll pay. I've been through this already.

I'll find another one for the right price soon. I've got another seller sending me pictures today supposedly.

I do appreciate the replies though guys. It's good to have other opinions. :icon_thumby:

I can't imagine why you're having trouble negotiating a deal, when you refuse to even talk to the ones that have a high starting price but beg you to make an offer.

Obviously you must not do a lot of shopping around for trucks then. At least at high pressured car lots.

I've been through this game they play at several lots in the last few weeks, and I know where it's going before they do. I'll offer too little, and they'll ask too much. Then the negotiation goes nowhere. Frankly I'm sick of dealing with these guys trying to ram a truck in my rear. If I want it that bad then I'll buy it for just a few hundred below their asking price.

I'll find one from a private party seller soon enough. :icon_thumby: Nuff said.

I don't know about headers, but there is some good mod's to be had for the 3.0. I suggest re-gearing, under pulleys and an engine management system. Don't go cheap on the chip though; there are a lot of scams out there. Edge makes a good one for a few hundred bucks. Under pulleys can make a pretty noticeable difference too. Check out the "underdog" pulleys, they make a good product that's very affordable. My 3.0 does perfectly fine in most situations, just don't plan on hauling and excavator with it and you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the advice Viva! I'll keep all of that in mind. If I find a steal of a deal on a 3.0 then I may just go for it, but right now I'm gonna hold off for a bit in hopes of finding that elusive 4.0..
