4.6 wiring

Long story short. I got a 04 2.3 with snapped rod for free. Also got a 01 e150 with 4.6 for free. Due to NE. Rust the van is no longer daily D. So does anyone have a diagram for the 4.6 and the 04 ranger harness’s. I’m just trying to diet the 4.6 factory harness and power the ranger harness for the fuel pump gauges ect.

You will need a bit more than a few diagrams

And, EVTM 2004 Ranger

EVTM is electric vacuum troubleshooting manual
This was part of the shop manual set sent out to all Ford Dealer shops every year for every model of Ford that year

It will have every wire and connection listed and where it is for that model, that year, covers all engine/transmission options and other options, along with revisions, so it is Year specific

These are usually sold separately from shop manual sets

People buy them and then sell them when they no longer have that vehicle, so they are available


You will need to swap out the Ranger 2004 instrument cluster with a 2003 or older, and probably the Smart Junction Box(cab fuse box)

The 2004 and up Rangers went full digital on cab electrics, so not great for swaps, in my opinion you would be better off putting in another 2.3l duratec engine, so keep it stock.

+1 for another 2.3

The truck is new enough that swaps become complicated because of wiring. 4.6 swaps are never that simple into a Ranger because the engine is so physically huge.

Moved to the V8 section in hopes that someone who has done a 4.6 swap can chime in (there are a few out there)
