31x10.5x15 on 15x8 wheel?

Gears really seem to be a personal preference more than anything; some people can deal with a sluggish guttless ride while others demand that their truck haul @ss with 35s just as good or better than it did stock. Either way, if you have the $$ for gears then it would be a wise investment.

Depending on what your stock gears are, I think if you have a 5speed then you should be "alright" with up to a 32 or 33.

On my truck for a while i ran the 3liter on 33s with 3.73 gear ratio and it was no rock crawler but was ok for a DD. Truck had a 5speed though which helped a lot

31x10.50R15 will fit fine on a 15x8 with 3.75" backspacing. I ran that on my 91 for a couple years.

i know you got a different body style than me but im running 31x10.5 on a 7" wide rim on my 93' ranger, no lift and no rubbing at all even at full turn.
dont mind the dent. i took this picture a couple years ago when i borrowed the tires from a friend, rims are off an explorer. i have since got these tires from my friend and they are on my stock ranger wheels.

thanks. and how to you get back spacing? and how do you measure it?

with the 2.9 31-33's are bearable with stock gears (3.73 or better) sure it may not have the crawl ratio everyone is so in love with anymore on here lol, but i was gettin 20mpg with my 31's and my 2.9 on the 10" wide rims.

31's will not rub at all, 32's will rub on the rad arm at full lock with factory rims and a body lift

depending on how wide of a stance you want you should either go with 3.75" backspacing or 3.25".
3.25" on an 8" rim with a 10.5 puts the tire past the fender about half an inch. but you shouldnt have to worry about rubbing at all

Thanks, so i have to buy a wheel that has backspacing of 3.75 or 3.25 depending on personal preference? or is backspacing something i can adjust my self?

u could also do daystar spacers(60-$120) or leveling kit by rough country($130)..thats wat i did on my 91..i would recomend holding off for a full lift kit tho..it sounds like u are jus trying to get a quick lift..how much are u payn for body lift? suspension connection has a 3" for $100..btw a 3" body will clear 31's easy..im not a big fan of body lifts..try lookin at rough country or tuff country they have pretty cheap lift kits..an im pretty sure pro comp has a 5" lift for $880 now easy installation..keep in mind these kits arnt for hardcore offroading

Okay cool thanks, how do spacers work in the front if i have manual locking hubs? and will 31x10.50 tires clear my fenders and brakes and stuff after the spacers? And i was hoping to spend around 200 for a body lift. i just don't have the money right now for a suspension lift. And what does a leveling kit do? i thought that was just for 2wd to make them as high as a 4x4.

well 1. no you can not adjust backspacing by yourself. you either need new wheels or wheel spacers
2. 91built was talking about coil spacers. you put them under the coils to lift the front about 1.5"
3. the leveling kit is something that raises the front to be level or almost level with the rear eliminating forward rake.(either coil spacers or longer coils)

31's will fit 4x4 rangers pretty easy. for your year usually a leveling kit or small body lift will clear them. so if you lift it at all it will only improve amount of wheel travel and look. i would say get lift coils, longer shackles and a 2" body lift. it would be a good looking combo with 31's. As for the wheels. google some pictures of different backspacing. it really comes down to preference

Well that depends on the gears that you have in there now and what you plan on using the truck for, are you gonna do a lot of wheeling, towing, or just highway driving. A 31 is not a huge amount bigger. When I was running 31s my stock gears werent bad and my truck had 3:27 gears. Who ever decided that would be a good ratio for a truck i have no idea. the 4:56s i have now with 33s give me more than enough torque and should hopefully be fine for when i bump it up to 35s in the spring. If you plan on going larger with both suspension and tires i would wait to upgrade the gears till you decide on how big you want to make the truck and then look at gears.

Go to the photo section and check out mine and hatmans snow wheeling pics there is a good front end shot with my 10.50's and his, he is running a more aggressice all terrain than I am and his side tread lugs stick out farther than mine, but its great views of the width.

Yup I had 30x9.50 on 15x8s and I know plenty of people running 33 and 35x12.50 on them too.

how was it any problems? i want to go ahead and get some rims, but i wanna run my 30's till i get my 35's...hell i just bought the 30's in august or sept or something like that

By they way, I would assume that you mount hte hubs then the spacers, then the wheels. But only if the spacer are hubcentric and have their own adapter lugs. THe hubs have to be mounted first so they keep making maximum contact with the axleshafts.

Hi, i am putting a 3in body lift on my 89 ranger. And i want to put 31x10.5x15 tires on it. Will 31x10.5x15 mount on a 15x8 wheel?

They'll do just fine. I'm running 33X12.5X15 on 15X8. I used to use a steel 15X10 rim with less backspacing and I had to replace my wheel bearings more often (every 4 to 6 mos.). I'm using the same Timken bearings for the past year now without problems.
