Ok, so I know a post 95ish 3.0L Ranger motor is distributorless, however it seems to have a spot for a distributor. I have a 1994 3.0L that is starting to perform poorly at 192K. I have a motor I was given by a friend, but we can't recall what year it is from, but believe it to be anywhere from 98 to 00. I am thinking of getting this block built to drop in my ranger, so that when the time comes it is just a day down, not a few months down. Is this possible (I read conflicting reports), and if so, what would I need to do to make sure it works? I'm using the same automatic transmission as it was built 4 years ago and still shifts good.

Use the intake manifolds and any sensors from your 94. Your distributor should drop right in I place of the camshaft synchronizer from the newer engine.
