2002 2.3L transmission options

The auto trans for my 2002 2.3L Ranger went recently and I'm looking for a used one to replace it with, since I don't want to put a ton of money into it. Searching various sites there seems to be two options, 1L5P-CA and 2L5P-CB. Unfortunately the ID tag is missing on my transmission. Can anybody tell me the difference between these two id's? It's a 2WD, which probably goes without saying as I don't think they made 2.3L 4WD. Thanks for any info you can supply.

This guy says you can go to a site and plug in the VIN and it will tell you. Never tried it myself.

5R44E difference between 1L5P-AA and 2L5P-AB

Not sure if it worked for him, maybe 2002 is too old. Tried the site and the only info it gave me was the build date of the truck. Engine and Transmission info came back N/A.
