Im new to the forums Im looking at buying a complete 98 explorer 4.10 8.8 rear axle rotor to rotor tomorrow and need some insight on converting my ranger axle to the explorer brakes.

My axle is a Limited Slip 8.8 4.10
the explorer is the same.

basically you have to run 2 short hard lines from the existing junction block on your flexible hose above the rear axle. You get 2 of the passenger side rear brake hoses from a 95-01 explorer and run the new hard lines to those soft hoses.

you will have to swap the whole axle to get the disc brakes of course but its well worth it. You just have to cut your leaf spring perches and shock mounts off the ranger axle and weld them onto the explorer axle.

Not sure if you meant you were trying to put the explorer brakes on your axle or the whole axle under your truck but you would have to do the latter if you want the discs.
