2001 Ford Ranger EDGE, chug from rear axle???

I need some help. Got a 2001 ranger edge and as it goes up a hill, it seems like there is a chug or a jump from the rear axle. It seems kind of intermittent. I know there is some type of sensor on the rear differfential. Could this sensor be my problem? Any help or guidance from all of you pros out there would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!!!

Any audible noise or is it just a sort of lurch/hesitation feeling? Could be a misfire.

Its more of a lurch, no noise at all, and it isn't a misfire as far as I can tell, it never does it any other time and its intermittent even when it does it.

Now, could the issue be caused be "axle hop" or "axle wrap"? This issue was mentioned to me yesterday and it makes some sense.

Have you ever lubed the drive-shaft slip joint? I had been having kind of an intermittent lurch at take-off sometimes and recently took the drive-shaft out to clean up and lube the slip joint. It now runs a smooth as can be and also eliminated a slight shudder that I thought was axle wrap when engaging the clutch from a stop.

i kinda had this issue. changed the oil in my rear diff, and added some friction modifier. bam no more hesitation in the rear end.
