Update. I am getting about 17.5 mpg to and from work up about 1.5 mpgs. Before when city driving I would get around 15. I am up to 16.5 to 17 depending on how I drive in town. I have not had a chance to get on the interstate to test. I just do not travel on it that much. Whenever I do I will make sure to post the results. I really do believe I need to by a tuner and get a custom tune installed to really open up the full benefits of the headers and the engine in general. I will probably do that next tax season.

As if I didn’t have my hands full with the V8 Ranger project, I picked up another V8 project......

A 74 Mercury Comet, I know a guy that’s parting out a 94 Mustang GT and I can get the 5.0 & 5spd for a reasonable price. It’s going to make a fun little car![emoji41]

does anyone know if you can use the electric shift bw4406 transfer case, or does it have to be the manual shift version, also does any one know the difference in the part numbers for the cases?

It is possible to use the electronic shift case. The 4406 swap thread at explorer forum has more details on that. If you do look for an electric shift case, be absolutely sure you get one that isn't control trac.
My suspicion is that if you're swapping from a 1354 electronic shift case controlled by the GEM that it wouldn't really be that hard to make it work, but it wasn't worth it to me compared to a reliable lever to pull.

Why not just find a manual shift and wire the 4x4 lights up and be done with it?
4406 Identification tag below. And yes the es case can work with some wiring. I sure do love my manual hubs and pull lever. Hasn't failed me yet. Shift motor stuck all the time on my 1354.

For what it's worth, I never found a clear listing of the different 4406 variants. All of them have similar metal tags, so you have to be very sure to look for any reference to Control Trac on the case. The first one I bought turned out to be labelled that way elsewhere on the case so I sold it to somebody else (who understood what they were getting) and eventually found a manual shift case.

Did you get everything ironed out on yours fast. Hows it running.

Not yet. Got the corrected pushrods installed on Monday night plus the valve covers and lower intake. I replaced the headlights last night and reassembled most of the interior this morning. Small chance I'll get the upper back in place tonight. If so I'll get to the exhaust shop tomorrow, otherwise Friday.

Good deal. I'm sure there will be a huge difference when your done.

Odds are good. Of course, tonight I noticed a small crack in the #1intake runner. This thing never ends!

If it was easy everyone would be doing it. :icon_hornsup: Sorry it took so long to get back to you I just went on a 6 hour round trip to pick a kubota tractor with the pawinlaw.

Got everything reassembled over the weekend and drove it across town to the exhaust shop this morning. There will be plenty of small things on my punch list for a while, but it ought to be inspected and daily driver ready in the next few days.
