You'll get a strong spray if it has good pressure.
As in, cover it with a rag and expect a good gush when you depress the pin.
Watch your eyes.
If you aren't getting that, check for 12v at the inertia switch connector - only one of the two pins (right where the passenger's toes hit, under the carpet), the other pin routes power to the fuel pump.
No voltage there is usually a bad fuel pump relay, the green one next to the brown PCM relay.
That voltage will only be there for that same 2 seconds, which primes the fuel pressure prior to cranking the starter. That 12v should be constant when cranking the starter. If you have all that and can't hear the fuel pump run, clean the grounds under the hood (fenders and radiator support) and try again. If still no go, your fuel pump is bad (could have two pumps depending on the year - one in the tank and the high pressure pump on the driver side frame rail.
