2.9 Promaxx Aftermarket Head Porting

I’ve put enough effort into helping PJ with this build... I believe I’ve earned the right to pick on him.

Different tools for different jobs is something that I completely understand. My choptop got a 4.0 because it was the simple solution at the time. The 2.9 that was in it was awesome, it was the best one I’ve ever had, but when I went to 35” tires, it would pull wicked hard until 4th, then fall flat on its face. Hard. Everyone wanted to know why I didn’t just got to a 302 in it, we’ll, there was a few reasons there. The 4.0 is mostly a drop in swap for a Gen 2, it’s a little lighter and more compact, it would get me what I needed in power without being excessive (aka, I’m less likely to be stupid and end up on my lid), I already had a 4.0 on hand with all the wiring (ill-fated swap in my 88), etc. I still want to make some mods to it, it could use some tweaks yet, but it entirely suits my goals.

My 88 got the 2.9 because it suits my goals for that truck, especially if I build off of all of this kind of stuff floated by PJ and others. My goal is a 1-off resto-mod.

My 00 green Ranger is getting the 302 AWD swap because I want to and it suits the end goal for a street toy that is also capable.

Different goals, different motors. My boat has a 2.3, go figure. I try not to hate on anyone for their choices unless it really doesn’t make sense, but I may bust some balls now and then because I can

Maybe it only makes sense in my head, I don't know what I'm doing so who knows. Click on the image to get full resolution.
