2.9 engine miss?

The rail pressure dropped another 5 lbs in the last half hour. I know it will go to 0 lbs, because that's where it was when I started this. No rail pressure at all. Jumped the Fuel pump and built it up to 36. Now at 14.

other than not being able to keep it running at idle.

any way to test injectors? I have another set in the garage.

and the compression is the last time I checked. Gonna check again to see if it has changed.

they should have an ohm spec. but that would only show if the winding has shorted.

and bad resistance would result in....? (sorry, I am not familiar with the inner workings of an injector)

well an injector is just a silonoid. an electro magnet that when powered up pushes or pulls a small metal rod. if it was shorted it may not open the injector completly, and if open will not open the injector at all. have you checked for vacume leaks?

So far I haven't been able to find any. I replaced the lower intake manifold gasket not all that long ago. One thing I didn't mention a few posts age is that if I remove the vacuum line behind the throttle body (red one, on top) the idle increases and smooths out.

If take off the green one from the EGR Vacuum control and apply vacuum to it the engine dies like it should.

And I have something buzzing by the air filter box. Thought it was the starter solenoid. Then I thought it was the new EGR vacuum Control, Now I am thinking it is one of the Relays. Has been hard to pinpoint.

its probably a relay. my 86 had a relay that would buzz for a few seconds after i turned it off. never gave me any trouble. check for a vacum leak. my 86 had a crack in the line that goes to the brake booster and it had an erratic idle.
